TMA: Tunnel Face Observation System
The platform helps teams digitize tunnel-face geological surveys. It offers tools for collaborative evaluation, AI-powered image scoring, and easy export to 2D or 3D CAD formats, as well as Excel and PDF reports.

About the Project
This project is a web platform that helps Japanese civil-engineering contractors digitize tunnel-face geological observations, moving away from paper-based records. Engineers can record their findings on-site, create official Excel or PDF reports, and view geology using interactive 2D and 3D diagrams with CAD (DXF) export. The platform is a multi-tenant SaaS, so one Clean-Architecture codebase supports two enterprise clients, with authentication, database, and storage (Firebase or Supabase) easily swapped as needed. Reliability is backed by 135 test files, 13 Playwright end-to-end test suites, and daily automated database backups.
Highlights
- Built a multi-tenant architecture, so a single Clean-Architecture codebase serves two enterprise clients. Authentication, database, and storage (using either Firebase or Supabase) can be switched easily as needed.
- Created interactive 3D geological diagrams using Three.js, with options to export both 2D and 3D DXF files for use in CAD software.
- Designed a visual Excel template mapper that lets users drag to select cells and link them to report fields. Reports are rendered on the server using ExcelJS and Sharp.
- Wrote 135 unit and integration test files, along with 13 Playwright end-to-end test suites. Also set up daily automated database backups and created a restore guide.
